King's Police Medal (KPM) – Full Size

A full-size replica of the King's Police Medal (KPM), a prestigious British decoration awarded in recognition of distinguished service within the police service.

The King's Police Medal recognises exceptional dedication, leadership, professionalism and outstanding contributions to policing in the United Kingdom and eligible overseas territories.

History of the King's Police Medal

Originally instituted in 1909 by King Edward VII, the King's Police Medal was established to recognise acts of gallantry and distinguished service by members of the police forces.

The award was renamed the King's Police and Fire Services Medal in 1940 and subsequently became the Queen's Police Medal following the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.

Following the accession of King Charles III in 2022, the award once again became known as the King's Police Medal.

Today, the King's Police Medal is awarded for distinguished service, recognising individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to policing.

Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters KPM.
