French Croix de Guerre 1914–1918 Miniature Medal
The French Croix de Guerre 1914–1918 Miniature Medal is a reproduction of the distinguished French military decoration awarded for bravery and mentions in despatches during the First World War.
Established by the French government in April 1915, the Croix de Guerre—meaning “Cross of War”—could be awarded to French and Allied military personnel, as well as units cited for courageous service in the presence of the enemy.
The decoration features a bronze cross with crossed swords and the head of the French Republic at its centre. Different stars and palm emblems could be attached to the original medal ribbon to indicate the level at which the recipient had been cited.
This miniature reproduction has an undated reverse and is supplied loose and unmounted with a separate length of medal ribbon, ready to be incorporated into a miniature medal group or display.
