Arctic Star
The Arctic Star was instituted to recognise the service of British and Commonwealth personnel who participated in the Arctic Convoys between 3 September 1939 and 8 May 1945.
Often described as some of the most dangerous operations of the Second World War, the Arctic Convoys transported vital supplies from Britain and Allied ports to the Soviet Union through freezing seas, severe weather and constant threat from enemy aircraft, submarines and surface vessels.
The award honours those who served in the Arctic theatre, where temperatures frequently fell below freezing and survival often depended upon exceptional courage, endurance and teamwork.
This is an officially licensed Ministry of Defence replica medal, manufactured in the United Kingdom using traditional medal-making techniques. Produced in the same historic factories responsible for many original British campaign medals, each example faithfully reproduces the design and appearance of the award.
Ideal for collectors, veterans' families, historians and commemorative displays, the Arctic Star serves as a lasting tribute to one of the most demanding campaigns of the Second World War.
