Personalised Framed WW1 Memorial Plaque (Death Penny)
Create a dignified tribute to a relative who lost their life as a result of First World War service with this personalised, framed reproduction of the WW1 Memorial Plaque.
Commonly known as the “Death Penny”, “Dead Man’s Penny” or “Memorial Penny”, the original bronze plaques were issued to the next of kin of British and Commonwealth service personnel who were killed or died as a result of wounds or illness during the First World War. Approximately 1.3 million plaques were issued.
Full history and eligibility details can be found here.
Each reproduction plaque is individually engraved with the person’s forename or forenames and surname. In keeping with the original naming convention, no rank, service number, regiment or unit is shown on the plaque.
The plaque is presented against a black mount within a handmade dark wood frame, creating a respectful memorial suitable for displaying alongside medals, photographs and family-service records.
A reproduction Memorial Scroll is also included with your order. The scroll is supplied separately and is not mounted within the frame.
